Club Meeting and Surf Perch Fishout!

Club Meeting - Thursday, March 5th

We will have a club meeting on Thursday in K-4 at lunch. This is an informal check in meeting. You do not have to stay the whole time, but we will discuss the specifics of our next fishout on the following weekend. Also, I can provide small group instruction about knot tying and other fishing strategies.

Surf Perch Fishout! - Sunday, March 8th

We will be trying out our new perch tackle at Seascape Beach. If you are planning on fishing, you MUST come to the Thursday meeting and turn in a fishout form.

Also I would encourage parent involvement since it will help with transportation flexibility.

Meeting Time: Sunday March 8th 9:15 AM (Leland High School K-4)

Fishing Time: Approx. 10:00AM - 2:00PM
High tide is around noon. Fishing the couple hours of incoming and outgoing of a high tide is key!

Gear Needed:
  • Spinning Rod and Reel w/ 8lb-12lb test. 7' or longer. Remember we have 2 loaner rods that fit this description!
  • Waders (preferably) - You will not be a happy camper without waders. Even a wet suit would be better than nothing. I have 2 pairs of waders for a size 11  foot. Waders should fit a student ranging from 5'7"-6'2" 120-200lbs
  • Tackle backpack or fanny pack - You don't want to have to lug around a box, we will be on the move.
Lastly, I will have a trash bag on me for any trash that you may find or create during the trip. I was disappointed during our last trip when I found trash left by club members. This is not acceptable!

See you soon and tight lines!

Feb 17th - Local Lakes Kicking Out Solid Fish

Brooks Bromley caught this nice largemouth from a local Almaden reservoir over the past holiday weekend. He was using his favorite bait, and arguably the only bait he knows how to fish, a Senko. : )

Congrats to him on this tremendous fish catch!

Drop Shot Keeper

Hey All,

I noticed at the fishout that lots of people were attempting to drop shot, yet all of you had issues keeping it contained while walking around.

Come by K-4 for FREE Drop Shot Keepers. You simply zip-tie it to the base of your rod where it meets the cork foregrip. Your D-Shot weight will go into that hole you see in the pic below.
